Frequent questions

  1. Car Hire? – Available locally but can be expensive, cheaper to hire in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
  2. Midges? – The curse of Scotland. Summer months are the worst but our site is not too badly affected as our site is fairly open and is not too close to water. Insect repellents are available from chemists and many other shops.
  3. Rain? – We get our fair share. However, because of the topography of the Highlands the weather can change within a few miles. Television weather reports are very general and should not be assumed to be accurate.
  4. Eagles? – Shy birds not readily found. Best places to look are in the more secluded Glens. Buzzards are more plentiful and often mistaken for eagles at a distance.
  5. Highland Games? – Many throughout the summer. Details available from our local tourist office.
  6. Fishing? – Mainly game fishing available (trout and salmon). Many places available costs vary from free to £20 for trout and from £10 to £100 for salmon per day. Ask if more details required.
  7. Ski Hire? – All ski equipment can be hired from several sources in Fort William. Booking is recommended during mid-February.
  8. Groceries? – Can be ordered and delivered to your accommodation before arrival.
